Opened in the now on the map ‘Spring-land', north of metro Cadet, in early 2008, this modern, precise Korean, run by the former chef of Samiin, offers an excellent value and quality lunch menu in an area rife with substandard sushi houses. For under 20€ you get a ‘salade de fraîcheur' (icy, literally) made of various fresh raw vegetables; caramelised chicken with shrimp ravioli; sashimi of salmon; and excellent bibimbap (alas no egg!) or marinated beef with kimchi; followed by soup and a dessert. There's a good choice of Korean beers and alcohols too. The contemporary dining room is decorated in elegant autumnal tones, and plays ambient music reminiscent of a high-end spa. The service is smiling and friendly. One of the best ethnic tables in town. AM

It doesn't take a great deal to be branded a healthy restaurant in Paris, besides a couple of vegetarian options and the occasional plate of crudités. Supernature, an organic canteen in the 9th, happily doesn't compromise on flavour when it designed its health conscious menu that attracts heaps of trendy young things to its simple but chic digs. The focus is on organic comfort food - whether a cheese burger is strictly classified as figure lover's fodder is questionable, but a shot of herb juice should relieve some of the guilt. The vegetarian tarts are rustic with a real homemade appeal, like the delectable sweet and savoury pumpkin and gorgonzola tart. Save some room for pudding as Supernature's carrot cake with cream cheese frosting is superlative and worth a trip in itself. FU

Sure France has its share of amazing cosmetic lines. But a brand that combines natural product AND homeopathic remedies, that's new. Cue Korres, a Greek company with roots in the first Homeopathic Pharmacy of Athens. Product offerings range from skin and hair care to make-up, sun care and herbal preparations. If the science behind Korres doesn't impress you, try the Body Butter and you'll be hooked. Still skeptical? Paris fashion, art and activism collective Andrea Crews keep themselves busy. After a stint as guest editor on the current issue of WAD, this Friday they’re hosting their second ‘night shop’ at the new store in Pigalle. A recent collaboration with psychedelic Japanese artist Yayoi Kusama which culminated in a colourful performance piece will be showcased on video, and then you can let your hair down to a live by DJ Ghostape, followed by a YouTube video party mix. This is fashion of the future. LR

This up-and-coming Parisian fashion designer, artist, activist, and sexpot has just opened her first boutique/ showroom in the suitably rude Pigalle. Her colourful collections are currently leading the way to a new urban fashion order. Crews recycles, salvages, and reconstructs secondhand clothes into one-of-a-kind pieces that draw from various influences: street culture, subculture, comics and porn. The result is a collection of strange and daring pret-a-porter, where baggy sweatshirts are transformed into cocktail dresses, and trousers become overalls. The label is fast becoming noticed in the design/art world, and uber-store Colette recently stocked her line of funky sweatshirts. Crews’ creations are more than just fashion though, and are part of a political outlook that supports sustainable development initiatives, often partners with humanitarian organisations, and develops local initiatives, such as workshops with neighbourhood kids. Right on. NF

At the top of the 9th, (a nightcap away from Hotel Amour), this chic pizzeria delivers great pizzas, plus good Italian standards like pasta, grills, and salads. You might find proscuitto and fig pizza (14€) on the daily specials board, which marries perfectly with the salad of rocket, artichoke, cherry tomato and pine nuts. The quality ingredients are freshly imported from Italy, as are most of the wines. Eat in the densely packed but elegant dining room, or out on the terrace on the wide and green avenue Trudaine. Sexy waiting staff manage the uppity crowd, and reservations (ask for Luca) are recommended.

Speak no more of fashion crimes – the NoGood Store would have you argue that Fashion is War! As declares one of their slogan-chic dioramas in this concept store, an initiative of the advertising agency NoGood Industry. Following their recent concept store in the Printemps men’s department, the agency invests this site with all the tackle and trim of a gallery in military/corporate garb, complete with t-shirts, ties, and life-size dolls. The concept store as an international cosmopolitan phenomenon merits its critiques and here, the NoGood Store is nothing exceptional, except in its name, which spares it from any duty to reconcile art, commerce, and ethics. It’s impossible to judge where the irony stops and the commercialism begins – and moreover, whether the irony is there just to abet the market. JF

A staple address for sports enthusiasts and street style wannabes, the 6,000m2 lowlit concrete megastore is particularly strong for winter sports equipment. Climb to the third floor, dedicated to all things snow, and check out Dainese technical products, Head mini skis, Burton, K2, North Face, Rossignol and as much Gore Tex, inner layers and back fastenings as a sane person can take. All gear, no idea types come to get fully fitted out, as do snowboard purists. There are also sections for golf, vintage, skate, yoga, football, basketball – all the NBA shirts are here – plus the rest. There are DJs on Saturday afternoon (come here at your peril) and a Lazy Dog book concession next to the check-out. Hectic but full of essential equipment. CT

Opened by 3 friends who spawned their creative collaboration when working together at the Hôtel Amour, our favourite Parisian hang-out, this new boutique combines a love for vintage, kitsch design and fashion. The trio have put together a killer cocktail of a boutique on an off-kilter street in the 9th arrondissement. Spiralled 70s carpet, black walls, leather surrounds, porcelain cheetahs and good/bad-taste mirror art give an idea of the fashion sense here. Lots of florals, heavily glitzed bat-wing tops, bold coloured leather, Argentinian strings, major sunglasses worthy of Nicole Richie and wild prints. And some of the clothes are for hire. A fun address to keep checking in with. The girls want to encourage a chatty, open vibe and we spotted one rather un-vintage boyfriend who didn’t look unhappy sitting on the retro sofa stroking the boutique dog.

Le trio a mis sur pied une boutique aux ingrédients intéressants située dans une rue décalée du 9ème arrondissement. Les filles ont voulu faire de ce lieu un espace vivant et ouvert. De la moquette en spirale version 70s, murs noirs, des porcelaines léopards et des mirroirs artys de bon/ mauvais goût vous donneront une idée de la mode ici. De nombreuses compositions florales, des hauts clinquants en ailes de chauve-souris, des cuirs aux couleurs vives, des strings argentins, des lunettes de soleil dignes de Nicole Richie. Et certaines pièces sont à louer. Une adresse à surveiller de près.

The ubiquitous André is back, in association with Lionel and one of the Costes clan, with this flash boutique hotel in the romantic ‘little Athens’ quarter of the 9th arrondissement. Each of the 20 rooms is decorated by one of his artist or designer buddies – Marc Newson, M/M or Sophie Calle, say – plus there’s a great little restaurant and bar to just hang out and chat. The beautiful courtyard, with a real live well, is one of the city’s best locations for balmy August nights. Room rates are surprisingly reasonable – the chic value outshines the unpretentious nature of the service.
